The Priory, Church of England Primary School

At The Priory, we have a strong link with our local day centre for the elderly, The Wimbledon Guild.  This is a local charity which aims to help local people lead a better life, by tackling poverty, supporting ageing and encouraging mental well-being.

Every Christmas, the KS2 choir visit the Wimbledon Guild and sing Christmas Carols to some of the elderly visitors.  This is a lovely opportunity for the children, not only to perform to the community, but also to take time to talk to the elderly visitors and find out about a little more about their lives.  2013 was an exciting year, as we were invited to sing at the Christmas party, in front of 100 elderly visitors, and also took part in a ‘Zumbathon’!

The Wimbledon Guild also visit The Priory in the summer term to watch our annual Year 6 production and have a cup of tea and a chat with some of our Year 6 pupils.

The Wimbledon Guild is an important charity for The Priory and these strong community links benefit both the children and the elderly hugely.
